ceiling fan 03:41
open up another bottle just let me in again your version of the truth a cardboard-cutout memory a half-torn photograph & an ever-changing dream there’s something so familiar about the way you talk takes me back in time you remind me of my mother yeah, you’re a ceiling fan & i’m just the same
2.
who you are 03:23
you say you’re a broken kite try to fly, but the wind blows right through your bones & it’s colder than you thought but you keep your mouth shut & you close your eyes to picture what the stained glass angel was supposed to look like but there was nothing there just a glare keep your eyes closed it might appear you’re your best when you’re all alone open my hand, just so you can give my heart back it’s probably for the best i’m better as a stranger what’s strange is that the more we speak the less i’ll recognize myself & the less i’ll want to know who you are
3.
the moon shone bright i lay, waiting for the meteor shower a little drunk, the snow warmer than without the wine the others stayed inside convinced it wouldn’t show & they were right it didn’t show though, i still didn’t feel alone i told myself 'it’s not too late' knowing well that it was though, somehow still not disappointed but content with the hard mattress of snow the impossible distance between myself & the stars & the cliché that i’m so small
4.
hold me to the light switch it off, see if i shine or lose me to the night oh, i’ll be fine sitting, side by side i know our tongues get tied tell the same story twice i’ll act surprised is it too late to sail to when the rumble strips were whales caught under the ground & singing out you’re lost to me & not just me your memory is withering
